About Goodstart Kurri Kurri
Our centre is located in the local community of Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Valley only a stone’s throw away from Kurri Kurri Public School and is within walking distance from the local shops, library and park.
We educate and care for children between six weeks and six years old across five indoor learning spaces. The learning environments at Goodstart Kurri Kurri are designed with a focus on natural, home like environments that create a sense of calm, belonging and being.
Our nursery learning space caters for children between the ages of 0-2yrs. These loving and home like environments provide spaces that make the children feel safe and secure and encourages them to explore the world around them. We have an effective indoor/outdoor program that allows the educators to support our baby’s flexible routines. We have the same group of educators with the children to ensure opportunities are made for the children to build and form stable, secure attachments throughout their nursery years.
The toddler learning space strives to support and nurture children’s growing independence. At this age we see increased interest from children in developing relationships with one and other. We support the children’s interactions with one and other and provide experience and opportunities to explore concepts such as sharing, turn taking, emotional resilience and conflict resolution.
Our preschool learning spaces consists of two 3-5yrs environments. Whilst our centre philosophy centres around learning through play, our 3-5yr environments also focus on intentional teaching moments that help with preparation for school. Children are encouraged to strengthen their social and emotional skills through sharing and turn taking. Through these intentional teaching moments also comes opportunity for experiences that foster curiosity, resourcefulness, independent thinking, problem solving and initiative. This skill set with help prepare all children in their journey after Goodstart Kurri Kurri
Ouroutdoor learning spaces focus on interacting with and caring for our natural environment. We also aim to provide the children with a variety of stimulating natural resources whilst in the outdoor space. We have sandpits, a mud pit and a veranda that provides open ended experiences where our children can use their creative minds. There is also a space in the garden for projects to take place where the children are encouraged to participate in growing fruit, vegetables and caring for our worms.
