  • A child’s natural sense of enquiry

Learn more about Goodstart Beresfield

  • At Goodstart Beresfield, we believe that children learn best when they are engaged in meaningful play experiences. Play allows children to explore ideas and concepts in a fun environment where they can learn individually and socially with peers and teachers.

We recognise that early childhood is a crucial time of development and we work with children and their families to ensure the best possible start in life. Our learning environments are nurturing and natural, where each child feels valued and safe to explore, create and communicate. We ensure flexibility and responsiveness to children’s interests, learning capabilities and styles, so they can become confident learners.

  • Our team of experienced and dedicated educators is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for children. With a focus on building strong, positive relationships, we go out of our way to see your child feel valued and supported every day.

Our two amazing outdoor learning spaces, which include trees for climbing, creeks for splashing, and gardens for growing, were designed with the intention of making dedicated spaces for discovery, quiet reflection, and risky play. A connection to nature is so important for children. It not only helps develop their motor skills, coordination and spatial awareness, but also fosters an appreciation for our natural environment.

  • Safety is our top priority and we look after our centres. They're intentionally designed to make the best use of our early learning resources and our settings are enriching and engaging. From spacious outdoor play areas to well-appointed learning spaces, we'll have many things that meet your child's interests and individual needs.

  • If your child attends childcare with us, they can stay with us until they start school. At Goodstart Beresfield, we offer a government-assessed and approved preschool program. This curriculum is designed as a part of the Australian government's early years learning framework and it's delivered by bachelor-qualified early childhood teachers. This early education program applies across the country with school readiness in mind.

Our school readiness goals focus on supporting children to transition to school and we have close connections with our local schools such as Beresfield Public School, Tarro Public School, Woodberry Public School, Thornton Public School, Black Hill Public School and Millers Forest Public school. We also have a connection with our local catholic schools such as Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, and St Aloysius Catholic Primary School. Our school readiness program aims to teach the whole child in what is called a holistic approach, with a focus on independence, resilience and social/emotional wellbeing.  We want to send off happy, confident and kind learners who will thrive at school and be able to tackle and embrace all the new challenges.

  • We understand the demands of modern familiesThat's why we offer flexible hours to meet your family's schedule and your child's needs. We believe all children deserve the best possible start in life, and that includes access to quality early childhood education and care. We offer:

    • Discounts on multiple days

    • All day sessions

    • Discounted shorter sessions

    • Fee assistance programs for families

  • Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote Key Educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one Key Educator who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. We keep families informed with regular updates on their child's progress and we welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

Katy Paine

Centre Manager

Hello, my name is Katy Paine and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Beresfield.

I graduated from The University of Newcastle in 2015, obtaining a double bachelor’s degree in Primary Teaching and Early Childhood Studies. In my nearly 10 year career in education I have worked in primary schools and early education services across Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. I have over 4 years experience as a Centre Director so I am well versed in mentoring educators and creating safe spaces for children to learn, grow and explore their identities.

My teaching philosophy sits within a post-modernist realm. I believe children are who they are, and they lead their own learning either individually or as a group. Our job as teachers is to facilitate their interests by scaffolding learning moments and taking children on learning journeys to consolidate learning, discover new ideas or seek new ways of thinking.

Please come into the centre or give us a call as we would love to meet you and your family to discuss how we can work in partnership to provide your child with the best possible early learning journey.
