At Goodstart Mount Clear, our centre is dedicated to providing a nurturing and educational environment for children from six weeks to school aged.

We offer long daycare and kindergarten programs and our play-based learning programs are designed to promote:  

A child’s natural sense of enquiry
Literacy, numeracy and social skills
Creativity, problem solving and resilience

These are all critical skills needed for school and life. Quality play-based learning gives children hands-on exploration of the world around them.

Our centre’s philosophy is incorporated into our daily program, we actively work towards our vision for all children in our care to reach their full potential. 
We believe in working alongside families, and respect and welcome their diverse knowledge, contributions, and perspectives.
Our Key educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.
Goodstart Early Learning Mount Clear has a natural and homely environment and is in central Mount Clear.
Our educators are very professional and dedicated to providing high quality care and education for all of our children.
Outside we have two areas with sandpits, climbing frames, veggie patches, worm farms, space to run around and lots of shade. We have carefully designed and planned spaces to encourage a stronger understanding of the environment and sustainability – while giving children the scope to explore, play and let their imaginations roam.
Yes we offer a state approved funded kindergarten program.

Hi, I’m Deanna and I’m the new Centre Director here at Goodstart Mount Clear.

Welcome to Goodstart Mount Clear!

My name is Deanna Ward, and I have the honour of leading our diverse and connected community here in Mount Clear, on the land of the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung people. With 18 years of experience in early childhood education and care, I'm deeply passionate about creating an environment where every child can thrive and discover their unique potential.

My background

I began my journey in New Zealand as a relief teacher, which ignited my passion for early learning. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to study for my Masters degree before moving to a Centre Director role about 10 years ago.

My early childhood philosophy

I believe in respect for people, places and things. For me, it's all about valuing each person as an individual, building authentic relationships, ensuring children have agency in all interactions and know their own needs.

Goodstart Mount Clear is special because it has passionate and dedicated educators that focus on keeping current with practices and ensure we are always learning. Every day, I'm inspired by the smiles, laughter, and learning that happen within our walls.

Government Funded Kindergarten Program

At Mount Clear, you and your child can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our early learning centre offers a Government-funded kindergarten program and long day care under the one roof. Our kindergarten teachers are University qualified and provide a play-based learning program that will support your child in learning the skills for school and life.

With multi-child discounts and government funded Kindergarten/Preschool in some states, out-of-pocket costs could be even less than you think!

The above fees are effective from 7 July 2025 and are based on a 10 hour session, for attendance between 2 and 4 days per week. 5 day bookings receive a generous discount per day. Note that different combinations of sessions times and number of days can increase or decrease the daily rate.

* Estimates are calculated based on CCS rates as of January 2026, for an activity level of 72 activity hours on a 10hr session and a 3 day booking.

The care and education they provide are exceptional, and I have seen my child thrive since starting there. This a beautiful early education center. My daughter adores her teachers/carers and is fulfilled with joy in their well developed environment. The rooms are beautiful with many educational toys and greenery. The outside has been admired for its safety and security, plus all of the play areas have been created thoughtfully. Staff are always welcoming and caring, listening to the parents desires and love the children they care for. We both have since adoration for this amazing center and all of the workers who make it the wonderful place that it is. The ladies in the Nursery Room made my transition back to work with a 4 month old super easy and comfortable. No request was too large for them. They work around my son’s routine and because of this he always comes home happy.
