Our long day care centre provides nurturing, tailored education and care from nursery to kindergarten.

Set on Yuwibera land, our centre is conveniently located on the corner of Hamilton Street and Graves Street, just behind Mossy's BP on Harbour Road and only five minutes from local schools.

With five well-resourced learning rooms and natural outdoor play spaces, our educators are passionate about helping every child feel confident and supported as they take their first steps into learning and life.

Our Kindy children enjoy regular school visits, preparing them with confidence for the transition to prep. Weekly incursions like Active Squirtz bring fun physical activity into their learning, too.

Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners. 
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. 
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators. 
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.  
At our North Mackay centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified early childhood experts. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our three and four-year-old kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.

Hi there! I’m Chloe and the Center Director of Goodstart North Mackay.

I have worked in the Early Childhood Education and Care sector for the past nine years, beginning my career as a school-based trainee and growing alongside the industry I love.

I am passionate about supporting children, educators, and families to thrive together. My philosophy is centred on independence, autonomy, and child-led learning. I believe all children are capable, curious, and confident learners who flourish in environments that allow them to explore, take risks, and grow at their own pace.

As Centre Director, I feel incredibly proud to lead and support such a passionate team of educators. Our team works hard to create calm, nurturing, and intentional learning environments where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. Together, we are committed to building strong relationships with our children, families, and the wider community.

I love being part of a profession that helps shape funny, confident, creative, and kind little people, and I look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you into our Goodstart North Mackay Family.

Structured Kindergarten Program

At North Mackay, you and your child can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our centre offers a kindergarten program and long day care under the one roof. Our kindergarten teachers are University qualified and provide a play-based learning program that will support your child in learning the skills for school and life.

With multi-child discounts and government funded Kindergarten/Preschool in some states, out-of-pocket costs could be even less than you think!

The above fees are effective from 7 July 2025 and are based on a 10 hour session, for attendance between 2 and 4 days per week. 5 day bookings receive a generous discount per day. Note that different combinations of sessions times and number of days can increase or decrease the daily rate.

* Estimates are calculated based on CCS rates as of January 2026, for an activity level of 72 activity hours on a 10hr session and a 3 day booking.
