Discover a safe, welcoming and engaging early learning space where children aged six weeks to five years can learn, grow and thrive.
Our long day care centre provides nurturing, tailored education and care from nursery to kindergarten.
Set on Yuwibera land, our centre is conveniently located on the corner of Hamilton Street and Graves Street, just behind Mossy's BP on Harbour Road and only five minutes from local schools.
With five well-resourced learning rooms and natural outdoor play spaces, our educators are passionate about helping every child feel confident and supported as they take their first steps into learning and life.
Come and take a tour - let us show you the difference at Goodstart North Mackay.
We also offer rich experiences beyond the classroom: Each year, our children connect with nature through Landcare Australia’s garden programs, learn about sustainability with the council, and boost language skills with Lipsy Loo through Kindy Uplift.
Our Kindy children enjoy regular school visits, preparing them with confidence for the transition to prep. Weekly incursions like Active Squirtz bring fun physical activity into their learning, too.
Families love our strong relationships, open communication and community spirit – and our team loves partnering with families to give children the best start.
If you're looking for a centre that puts safety, trust and curiosity at the heart of early learning, we'd love to welcome you.
Book a tour of Goodstart North Mackay today. We’d love to welcome you and your family, and discuss how we can provide a tailored, safe and engaging environment to support your child’s learning journey.
At Goodstart North Mackay, our philosophy centres around the belief that every child is a unique individual with their own interests and strengths. We embrace a play-based learning approach that nurtures curiosity and creativity, allowing children to explore their world in meaningful ways.
We prioritise:
Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners.
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them.
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.
At our North Mackay centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified early childhood experts. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our three and four-year-old kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.
At Goodstart, we believe all children deserve the best possible start in life, which includes access to high-quality early childhood education and care. We offer:
We work closely with parents to ensure the individual needs, interests and strengths of children are considered, and our learning goals reflect them. Using Storypark, a wonderful communication platform, we stay in close touch with families and ensure you're well informed about your child's development and achievements.

I have been in the childcare industry for 23 years. I have worked in multiple roles throughout my time and began my Center Director journey with Goodstart 5 years ago in Brisbane. I moved to Mackay towards the end of 2022 and have loved my time here.
I believe that building relationships with children is the most important part of our roles. When children feel safe, secure an supported they do their best learning and thrive. I like to make my center a home away from home where everyone feels a sense of belonging.
I look forward to meeting you and your family.
