About Goodstart Shell Cove
Our centre is located in the local community of Shell Cove in the Shell Harbour area, conveniently located next door to the local Shell Cove Public Primary school.
We educate and care for children between 6 weeks old and 6 years old. The learning environments at Goodstart Shell Cove are designed with a focus on learning through play, in an environment rich with choice. Our centre aims to extend children’s knowledge and to develop independence, respect and a sense of ownership for their environment through open ended learning experiences.
Our nursery learning spaces are designed to cater for the growing needs of children under two years. They provide challenges and stimulation through sensory exploration, language and literacy experiences and a range of spontaneous fine and gross motor opportunities which are age appropriate, whilst maintaining a calm, relaxed atmosphere.
Our toddler learning space fosters children's sense of wonder, belonging and autonomy. The educators in this room place great emphasis on encouraging self-help skills, social negotiation and social cues along with problem solving techniques. Family involvement is key to the toddler programming and is encouraged through StoryPark - our online learning documentation platform.
Our preschool learning spaces focus on preparing children for the school environment. We believe that social and emotional self-reliance and confidence are key to a successful transition to school, and we nurture these through close, meaningful relationships with our children and families, incorporating their input into group learning experiences. We maintain close connections with local schools such as Shell Cove Public, Shellharbour Public, Flinders Public, Nazareth and Stella Maris.
Our three outdoor learning spaces are designed to encourage children of all ages to interact with and care for our natural environment. Our playground areas are a balance of natural and manmade elements and play surfaces – with sandpits, rock gardens, a water channel, vegetable patch, native garden, dirt pit, and lots of shade. We have carefully designed and planned our spaces to encourage a stronger understanding of the environment and sustainability – while giving children the scope to explore, play and let their imaginations roam.
Our early learning educational programs cater to each individual child's stage of development. Our curriculum is centred around the Early Years Learning Framework and is tailored to each child's unique strengths, needs and interests.
