Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre West Ryde - Winbourne Street is set in a local heritage building and provides a boutique care environment for children.
Catering to 34 children each day we offer care and play-based learning to children from six weeks to five years of age. Our relationship with the local primary school (Ermington Public School) allows for our children to thrive and gain the independence required for the transition to school.
We are a service of dedicated educators who believe in keeping children central to everything we do. We believe in the key educator approach. Sam, our nursery educator is an asset to your family. Her years of experience support families into the transition into a care environment. Our university qualified teacher assists in the guiding of our programs as the educational leader.
The Early Years Learning Framework is used for our play based, stimulating curriculum which is implemented throughout all of our rooms from Nursery to Preschool. We also develop colourful, engaging programs accounting for each child’s interests, needs and strengths; and with each step we are ensuring the children are ready to take the big step into schooling.
Our recent evolution in technology at Goodstart West Ryde offers families with access to Storypark, which enables us to support consistent and clear communications with families. That means we are better placed to support a child in their learning journey, ensure parents have peace of mind, and time stamp the children’s developments, milestones and achievements. Technology is also a part of children’s every day learning with utilising our interactive smart board as a tool to scaffold their learning and inquires.
Investments to our outdoor play spaces allows us to offer beautiful, rich outdoor learning environments. Our distinct point of different in our outdoor classroom. Our outdoor classroom and natural play spaces contribute to more complex and imaginative child-led and inquiry-based play and learning.
When Goodstart West Ryde-Wimborne Street was closed earlier this year for what was initially a 4-week period but extended to 4 months the team collaborated with both Goodstart and non-Goodstart centres to provide care for families and children.
To maintain family connections, they implemented several strategies, including take-home learning bags, recipe sharing, writing letters to children, and offering families learning experiences. They also established the ongoing 'Catch Up in the Park' initiative. The centre actively participates in local community events & supports various charitable causes. In a recent philosophy review, they critically reflected on new Child Safety Standards, particularly regarding children’s bodily autonomy, leading to a practice change where educators now seek children’s permission before taking their photographs or videos. This review incorporated input from children & families. Goodstart West Ryde-Wimborne Street deserves recognition for their holistic & comprehensive approach to Family & Community Partnerships Excellence.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family. Come in and take a look around, meet the team and explore how we can support your child’s learning journey.
