About our centre

Here at Goodstart Burton we are fortunate to be situated near public transport, local shops, schools and have a beautiful park just next door.

We are a family-orientated and supportive centre that believes in providing an inclusive and welcoming environment to everyone within our centre. We have strong community links, one of which is our community pantry in reception where families can take what they need, graciously donated by our local Woolworths.

Our vibrant and diverse staff have an enthusiastic approach to teaching. Each class offers a unique room environment room that’s based on the children’s interests, with personalised touches from our educators. Each of our educators are trained to the standard that our centre strives to maintain on an individual level.

We all strongly believe in play-based learning and sensory activities amongst all ages. We also believe in organising intentional learning experiences, whilst embracing the spontaneous learning opportunities that emerge from the children’s interests. This is important as it nurtures their curiosities and lays the foundation of learning.

Our purpose-built early learning centre has an 84 child capacity per day across four rooms (0-2, 2-3, 3-4 and Preschool). We welcome children from 6 weeks of age and encourage families to stay right up until school as we offer a Government Funded Preschool program taught by our qualified Early Learning Teacher, Misha Pachani.

We are also lucky to have a qualified Early Learning Teacher, Kavita Dhingra, teaching in our 3-year-old room, providing valuable play-based learning in preparation for the Preschool program.

Goodstart Burton strongly values reconciliation, through acknowledging and learning from the Kaurna people. We have an active Reconciliation Action Plan that’s purpose is to pass love and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures along to the children within our care. To support this, we encourage all the children to engage with our Acknowledgement of Land each morning, in every room.

Our centre works closely with all our families to build and maintain strong relationships that radiate a sense of community and belonging.

My children attend here and have done since they were both babies, (now 3&4) the centre has come a very long way and the educators are so supportive and engaged in their teachings. I love seeing their learning and the smiles on their faces each day they attend. Being ex childcare myself I was nervous about putting our child into care so finding the perfect centre to work with my child was hard. The staff at the centre have made always made myself and my family feel welcome and could see that our child was happy and well looked after. My daughter has been attending the nursery for over a year now. I could not be happier with the centre. All the staff from director and admin to the educators are so helpful and friendly. They always have time for a chat about your child and how they are doing. The children have planned activities they can participate in each day that build on their learning and skills. They also lots of time for free play and there’s heaps of stuff to play with. The children spend a lot of time outside which was a big plus for me. We always get photos and updates on what they have done each day. On the occasion when my child is having a bad day they will always message or call to let me know how she is doing. I feel she is in a safe, secure, loving and nurturing environment and never have mum guilt about leaving her there. She loves going there and has such special bonds with the educators.

Tamicka Jones

Centre Director

Hi, my name is Tamicka and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Burton. I currently hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Education and care have been a strong passion of mine since I started with Goodstart more than ten years ago. During my time within the education and care sector, I have strived and continued to explore new career opportunities and continued to build on my skills and knowledge to achieve my goals.

Throughout my years working in the early childhood sector, I have gained extensive knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards as well as undertaking extensive research in other early childhood topics.

Program and practice are a strong passion of mine and I love to think of creative ways to explore these concepts with the children, educators, and families. I understand the value of lifelong learning which I not only promote but engage in myself.

I love to mentor and guide educators to achieve their professional goals too and believe my background in training and assessment gives me the skills and knowledge to help build education across the sector.

I look forward to meeting your children and building a strong, reciprocal relationship with your family as I believe families our primary partner and when we work together, we can achieve amazing things for your little one.
