Each day, children are supported to follow their interests through play-based learning guided by the Early Years Learning Framework. Our flexible environments allow children to move between indoor and outdoor spaces, supporting independence, choice and engagement.

We are deeply committed to inclusion and work closely with families to provide personalised support, including guidance with additional services and referral pathways when needed. Our educators help children develop empathy, respect and understanding by celebrating diversity in all its forms.

Could not rate this centre higher if I tried to. Don’t quite have the words to explain how amazing they have been for my self and my family. My son absolutely loves going to childcare each day and his educators are absolutely beautiful, so understanding and welcoming. They have always been extremely accomodating with our circumstances and value our privacy so much. They mean the world to us and it’s like having another family. We love it here! Leaving your child with someone else can be pretty scary, but Lisa and the staff at Goodstart Pooraka made this transition really easy. Our son smiles and reaches for his educators every morning, he has developed a beautiful bond with all three regular staff in the nursery room, but particularly his lead educator Chelsea. I feel happy knowing he’s in a safe environment that is giving him the best start in life while actively trying to learn what interests and motivates our son.

Hi, I’m Lisa and I’ve been the Centre Director at here at Goodstart Pooraka since 2012.

Working as the Centre Director here at Pooraka and being a mum to my pre-teen daughter are truly my favourite things in life and I feel so grateful everyday to work in a service where the team are so passionate, dedicated and committed to providing quality Early Learning and Care to all children and families in our community.

My own family background and my years of experience in this role has taught me that being an advocate for children and families is one of the most important roles you can play in life, and I often think back to the people who were there for me when I most needed it. This is one reason why my mission is to do the same for the children and families at our centre, to be a safe space for children, a safe person to listen without judgement when families are in need and a source of advice and comfort on this parenting journey. Whether you need a little extra help because your washing machine broke down this week or you’ve hit hard times and don’t know how to apply for income support or you just can’t understand why your child is suddenly challenging your patience at every turn, my door and my heart is open to you and I am committed to doing whatever I can to support you and your child.

At Pooraka, you and your child can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our centre offers a preschool program and long day care under the one roof. Our preschool teachers are University qualified and provide a play-based learning program that will support your child in learning the skills for school and life.

With multi-child discounts and government funded Kindergarten/Preschool in some states, out-of-pocket costs could be even less than you think!

The above fees are effective from 7 July 2025 and are based on a 10 hour session, for attendance between 2 and 4 days per week. 5 day bookings receive a generous discount per day. Note that different combinations of sessions times and number of days can increase or decrease the daily rate.

* Estimates are calculated based on CCS rates as of January 2026, for an activity level of 72 activity hours on a 10hr session and a 3 day booking.
