We're a warm and welcoming early learning centre located on the traditional lands of the Kamilaroi people.

Through our philosophy, we aim to create a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive and become confident, capable learners. 
Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. 
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators. 
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.  
At our Goodstart Gunnedah centre, we're proud to inspire your child's love of learning with the support of our passionate and qualified Early Childhood Teacher. Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our preschool program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.

Hi, my name is Odette Marks, and I am the Centre Director at Goodstart Early Learning Gunnedah!

I would like to acknowledge the First Nations people of the land on which our centre is based, the Kamilaroi People.

A little about my experience in the childcare industry: I have worked in childcare for 11 years and hold a Diploma of Early Childhood Education. I started as an assistant, then moved to Senior Educator, then to Assistant Director and Educational Leader, and I now hold the position of Director here at Goodstart Gunnedah. I have worked with all age groups and have been involved in all aspects of child development.

I am passionate about providing high-quality care for children of all ages. I strive to create connections and relationships with all the families and children. We welcome a range of different cultures throughout our service and implement them in our curriculum, food, music, and play. I am also fortunate to work with a highly motivated and caring team who share the same dedication and passion for the safety and care of children. I strongly believe that every child is unique and has the potential to bring something special to the world. This can be achieved by adapting to each child’s individual developmental needs in an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and allows the child’s natural curiosity to direct their learning.

At Gunnedah, you and your child can enjoy the best of both worlds. Our centre offers a preschool program and long day care under the one roof. Our preschool teachers are University qualified and provide a play-based learning program that will support your child in learning the skills for school and life.

The above fees are effective from 7 July 2025 and are based on a 10 hour session, for attendance between 2 and 4 days per week. 5 day bookings receive a generous discount per day. Note that different combinations of sessions times and number of days can increase or decrease the daily rate.
