About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre in Somerton Park opened in late 2017. Our newly constructed centre features seven separate, naturally inspired learning spaces, each with direct access to our landscaped designed outdoor environment providing children with the opportunity to move freely between the indoor and outdoor. Our environments have been specifically designed to engage, challenge and excite the children throughout all of their developmental stages.

We provide high quality education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. Using the Early Years Learning Framework to guide our education program and scaffold children’s learning, our educators are passionate and committed to providing nurturing and simulating early learning environment. With a strong commitment and focus to create a warm and welcoming community focused centre we look forward to building and maintaining meaningful and true relationships with all our families and children.

Excellent centre since the new director Anna Burton joined! Teachers are really caring, communication home is excellent and it's always a warm and friendly environment. Extra activities like being about to look after the centre's guinea pigs and access to ViaDance Classes were a bonus. My daughter loved Princess Maddyson's classes. Highly recommend :)

My daughter attended Goodstart Somerton Park from a toddler right through to kindy. Anna and her wonderful team have played a pivotal role in my daughter’s growth and development, it’s been wonderful to watch over the years. The educators dedication, patience and most of all kindness and compassion has been greatly appreciated. The centre is clean and modern with rooms dedicated for all levels. The garden play areas are great, my daughter has had many adventures in the sandpit and play equipment. They also like to focus on gardening and growing plants/veggies, plus they also celebrate cultural diversity which is a brilliant initiative. Thank you!

My experience at Goodstart Somerton Park has been amazing. As an anxious mother, I was very nervous about leaving my daughter away from me for the very first time. They have been very compassionate, patient and understanding with me in this journey, specially Anna Burton, the Centre Director. Anna has a fantastic team of educators - professional, warm and well trained and it gave me the confidence to leave my 2 year old at a place where she was well nurtured and felt safe. My daughter has learned and grown a lot during this time and I only have the educators to thank for their warmth and love they have bestowed as that, I feel, is most important for a child’s emotional development. Centre Director

Hello, I’m Preesa, the Centre Director at Goodstart Somerton Park. With over 14 years of dedicated experience in early childhood education, I bring a strong professional foundation and a deep personal passion for supporting the growth and wellbeing of young children.

As a proud mother of four—three currently at university and one still in school—I understand the diverse needs of families and the importance of nurturing, responsive care during the early years.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working across all age groups from birth to five and have held a variety of leadership roles including Team Leader, Educational Leader, Assistant Director, and now, Centre Director. My journey with Goodstart spans more than eight years, with the past three years spent right here at Somerton Park.

In my previous role as Assistant Director, I worked closely with our Centre Director, Anna, to ensure our Centre operated with warmth, professionalism, and a strong sense of community. I am proud of the strong, supportive relationships I’ve built with our team - whom I consider family. I am passionate about creating a work environment where every educator feels valued, balanced, and empowered to thrive.

As an educator, I am particularly passionate about:

Creating inclusive and respectful learning environments where every child feels safe, seen, and supported.
Fostering curiosity, confidence, and independence through play-based, intentional teaching.
Building trusting, collaborative relationships with families to support each child’s development journey.

I believe in open communication, flexibility, and partnership with families, and I strive to ensure that every child and parent feels welcomed and heard. Outside of the Centre, I love spending quality time with my own family and hosting dinners - bringing people together through connection and conversation.

I am excited to continue leading our passionate team at Goodstart Somerton Park and remain committed to creating a Centre culture that is caring, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of every child and family we support.
