Goodstart Early Learning Alfred Cove is a purpose-built centre located between the port of Fremantle and the City of Perth, easily accessible via the local bus route that runs just outside our door enabling families to commute easily and stress-free.

We are licensed to accommodate 67 children and offer long day care for children aged six weeks to five years.

We have a well-established team of educators at Alfred Cove who all have formal qualifications in the Education and Care sector, including a Qualified Early Childhood Teacher. Most of our educators have been at the centre for numerous years, which allows us to build strong and lasting relationships with families and children. Our educators are from many cultural backgrounds and speak many different languages and share their cultural background through songs, pictures and stories.

Our play based, stimulating curriculum is based on the Early Years’ Learning Framework and our rooms are all geared with this in mind. We also develop colourful, engaging programs accounting for each child’s individual interests, needs and strengths; and with each step we are ensuring the children are ready to take the big step into schooling.

Our playground areas are a balance of natural and manmade elements and play surfaces. We have carefully designed and planned spaces to encourage a stronger understanding of the environment and sustainability – while giving children the scope to explore, play and let their imaginations roam.

Communication with families is paramount in ensuring we build a long lasting rapport with all families and children. Forms of communication used are face to face, telephone, e-mail, learning journals, diaries and questionnaires. We share the experiences that the children have been involved in on our weekly plans and “what have we learnt today” books, which capture snap shots of what activities have been explored.

This is made simpler through our intuitive Storypark platform, which enables us to maintain consistent and clear communications with families. That means we are better placed to support a child in their learning journey, ensure parents have peace of mind, and time stamp the children’s developments, milestones and achievements.

We have an end of year family event each year to celebrate and showcase our achievements and also ask for families to come into the centre and share cooking, gardening and story and song times that are related to their culture.

We are a friendly, family orientated centre that has an open-door policy where families can share time with their children and call in to check what the child is doing at any time during the day. Our well-established rooms and yards offer experiences to enhance and facilitate learning at a pace that best suits each child at their individual stage.

Hi! My name is Nida Mehvish and I’m the Centre Director at Goodstart Alfred Cove.

I have recently relocated from sunny Qld to WA and I am absolutely loving my time settling into beautiful Perth.
I have been working with Goodstart since 2017 and have worked in various roles during the time - from being an Assistant Educator to Centre Director.

My family comprises of my husband, our 12-year-old son and a 5yr old German Shepherd.
Having no extended family in Australia, I understand the importance of trust and feeling a sense of belonging. Meaningful relationships mean a lot to me and I along with the team will strive to provide children with a safe, nurturing and loving 'home, away from home'.

The above fees are effective from 6 July 2026 and are based on a 10 hour session, for attendance between 2 and 4 days per week. 5 day bookings receive a generous discount per day. Note that different combinations of sessions times and number of days can increase or decrease the daily rate.

The team at Goodstart - both educators and front desk administrators - are always kind and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure all the kids feel at home and that's what Goodstart Alfred Cove is for these kids, a home away from home. Just entering the Centre feels like coming home. I visited some other Centres to look at Kindy year options, and nothing matched up to the Goodstart Alfred Cove experience. The educators across the Centre engage with every kid, so there's continuity in their care, and there isn't an educator that my son doesn't like. Kylie has created a fantastic Kindy program where kids can learn their ABCs, more about the world around them, and the learning experience can be tailored to kids' developmental stages. Additional incursions of Happy Feet and Kidsport mean that kids can have something to look forward to each week. The Centre staff have further supported their wellbeing with in-care Daycare Dental visits and ear checks. Special events like educators sharing their cultural backgrounds with the kids, a special focus on Noongar culture, and visits to a retirement home to get to know the community, mean kids are learning more about the world than the four walls of the Centre. The purpose-built facility has heaps of room for different activities and interactions, with good lines of visibility for educators to maintain their care of the kids.

Both my children have attended, with my daughter now enjoying her final few months before she starts full-time school next year.
