Bondi children share their kindness with farmers
Farming families and children who are doing it tough will feel the love during the next few weeks as Goodstart Early Learning centres in Bondi step up to help out.
Little farmers, children dressed up cows and chickens and real-life farm animals will make an appearance at a special event on August 29 as three Bondi centres, Bondi Junction Oxford Street North, South and West raise funds for Channel Nine’s Fighting for Our Farmers drought relief appeal.
“Goodstart’s aim is to ensure all children receive the best possible start in life, especially those facing disadvantage,” Goodstart centre director Bronwyn Lowe said. “So raising funds to help children from all families – whether they live in Bondi or the bush - is very important to us.”
The Bondi centres, which care for more than 200 children, will host the event in which little ones can dress up as farmers or farm animals and make a gold coin donation.
The teams will also hold a raffle with prizes donated by neighbouring businesses, and a baby animal farm will visit Goodstart Bondi Junction Oxford Street North and South.
All money raised on the day will be donated to Channel Nine’s 2018 drought relief appeal which will be administered by Rotary Australia and distributed to farmers in need with the help of the National Farmers’ Federation.
As at August 8, more than $2.5 million had been raised by the appeal.
“Our centres are always looking at ways of building strong connections with our families and our communities, with the aim of giving all children the chance to become successful, healthy and productive adults,” Ms Lowe said.
“We’re also looking at Acts of Kindness in the kindergarten room at the moment so by helping others in this way, we’re upholding our mission statement, and fulfilling our plan.”
Goodstart’s Bondi centres provide high quality early learning and childcare for the suburbs of Woollahra, Tamarama and Edgecliff.
The three centres offer learning environments which are modern and thoughtfully designed in line with the Early Years Learning Framework, to enrich learning for all children.
