Safety is part of being a Goodstarter and in a sector-first, Goodstart has appointed Chief Safety Officer Matthew Little to lead their safety culture and its relentless focus on safety and continuous improvement.
Matthew joins Goodstart with deep expertise in health and safety, having worked for both national and global organisations in a range of sectors including power manufacturing, engineering, retail, construction and entertainment. He also brings extensive safety qualifications and a behavioural science focus to designing, leading, and delivering safe workplace cultures.
Goodstart’s CEO Julia Davison said the new role was established to set new safety benchmarks to ensure children and adults are safe, healthy and well at Goodstart.
“Matthew is a highly experienced Chief Safety Officer who will lead our organisation in elevating safety and embedding a culture of continuous improvement,” Ms Davison said.
“His appointment demonstrates our deep commitment to ensure our organisation becomes the best at getting better when comes to safety.”
Matthew will be supported by an expanding team of health, safety and well-being experts to ensure every child and every Goodstarter is safe and well.

“I won’t be doing this work alone, building on incredible work already underway by our team of safety, health and well-being experts and working closely with our educators and teachers across the nation.
“Our safety culture and engagement will be a heightened focus, especially creating psychologically safe workplaces to support Goodstarters and their well-being as we continue to navigate the tolls of COVID-19.”
One important piece of work underway, has been the development of a Safety App to support greater knowledge sharing across the early learning sector – launched this week by Matthew and his safety, health and well-being team. Read more.
