Adventure awaits for Goodstart Dunsborough children
is having a makeover with a new paint job and a $250,000 open plan, natural playground.
When complete, the children’s former two separate play areas will be one large, open plan playground.
It will include: a veggie garden, serenity swings, mud pit, a water pump and water channels, a bridge, a sand pit, a huge fort, climbers, slides, musical instruments, a timber deck, a timber work bench and bike tracks.
“We are so lucky to have a new natural playground, that provides opportunity for our children to explore, learn and develop,” centre director Jo Chapman said.
Designed by Kidscaped after input from and discussions with staff, children and families, the new playground is being completed by Nature Play Solutions.
Stage one and two of the five stage upgrade is complete, with works underway on stage three.
“The children have absolutely embraced the first few stages, which include a large climber, slides, access to the new vegetable garden and a serenity swing,” she said.
“We have been slowly introducing the children to the new equipment so they can get used to it and feel comfortable in their new space- they have been loving the new slides.
“The children, educators and families are so excited to see the entire space finished.
“Where our centre is located, we are close to wineries, beaches and lots of natural open spaces, but there is a real lack of actual playground equipment, so our new playground provides such a great opportunity for the children to engage and develop through outdoor play.”
When the playground is complete, educators at the centre will undergo external development and training on how to best use the space with the children to encourage learning and development.
The centre has also recently had a new indoor and outdoor paint refresh and all the playground upgrades are expected to be finished in coming weeks.
