Goodstart Early Learning Centre Haberfield is situated in a quiet suburban street with leafy surroundings, a residential setting close to local schools, shops, and transport routes. The centre is heritage listed with original features both inside and out. Each room has high ceilings and large windows, allowing natural sunlight to flow into every area.
At Goodstart Haberfield, children are central to everything we do. We believe children have the right to access quality education and care through a supportive and engaging environment. We are also strong advocates for finding an equal balance that nurtures children’s inquisitive thinking through risky play, while ensuring their safety.
Language, literacy, and STEM are embedded into our curriculum through a play-based learning approach. Educators support children’s interests and development through scaffolding. Children’s voices guide our programs, helping us to meet their individual needs and support their routines through meaningful transitions and experiences that sustain shared thinking.
The majority of our staff have been at the centre for more than four years and come from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Having been in operation since 1963, our centre is well established in Haberfield and the surrounding suburbs, with many families returning with younger siblings and referring us to others.
Inside, all of the rooms—from Nursery to Preschool—are set up in line with the Early Years Learning Framework, offering sensory and play-based learning opportunities. Natural and stimulating surrounds ensure children have the chance to grow and develop through inquiry and play-based learning.
Our Storypark platform, along with emailed newsletters, enables us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also allows us to tailor each program to every child’s individual needs, interests, and strengths, while reflecting the strong cultural diversity of our centre.
Outside, we have age-appropriate play spaces and equipment, designed to enhance children’s awareness of their surroundings and the broader environment, as well as their understanding of sustainability.
At the back of our centre, we have two large playgrounds equipped with sandpits, fixed equipment, herb gardens, space for movable activities, and our very own Art Studio. Areas are well shaded with established trees and shade sails where needed.
We have a qualified cook who prepares fresh, healthy, and nutritious meals for the children each day. The centre provides all daily meals, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and a late snack.
Art and music experiences are part of our daily program, allowing children to freely express their creativity through multiple mediums.
We encourage and welcome families’ input and participation in our daily program and actively seek feedback. Community involvement and participation are embedded and strengthened through strong connections with local communities and networks.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family soon. Come in and meet the team, take a tour, and see how we can work together to give your child the best possible start in life!
