For Bev Anderson, working in early learning has always been about the children.
About our centre
Operating since 2004, Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Moonee Beach is located in a small beachside suburb, north of Coffs Harbour. Many of our families live in the surrounding beaches from Woolgoolga, Emerald Beach, Sandy Beach, Bucca and Sapphire.
We are a small 51-place child care centre with three rooms – Nursery for children aged six weeks to two years; Toddler Room for children aged two to three-and-a-half years and our Kindergarten / Preschool room which prepares children ages three-and-a-half to school age for the big step into primary school.
We have a qualified cook in the kitchen and all meals are provided, so your children are sure to have plenty of nourishment and energy to make it through a big day of fun, play and learning.
Our centre has large open play spaces and we are developing a garden area for the children to connect with the natural environment and experience firsthand how to promote sustainability.
Our qualified educators create a stimulating program based upon the Early Years Learning Framework. Each week our educators reflect on their teaching practices, the physical environment and the individual needs of each child to promote learning and quality outcomes. Each child has a developmental profile and a beautiful portfolio that we give to our families at the end of each year.
Our educators work closely with families and the community, to create connections that assist children in their transition to school. As parents are children’s primary caregivers we feel the huge sense of respect and responsibility that they place trust in our skills as Early Childhood Educators, and will always strive to develop a strong partnership that supports their child’s needs.
We promote open communication and the sharing of important information. Parents are encouraged to share ideas and perspectives, and help make decisions about classroom life and curriculum. Families should always feel free to visit at any time.

Centre Director
Hi, my name is Mary-Jane and I am delighted to be the Centre Director of Goodstart Moonee Beach.
I commenced at Goodstart Moonee Beach in 2021 as an Assistant Director and progressed to Centre Director in February 2022.I have completed my Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) and Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care as well as Certificate IV in Disability Work and Certificate IV in Training and Assessing.
I have been employed in the Early Childhood sector since 1996. Prior to commencing at Goodstart Moonee Beach in 2021, I was Contact Liaison Officer for Early Childhood Australia for the Be You Bushfire Response Program for nearly 2 years. During this time, I was a facilitator for the Reconciliation Symposium and attended and presented many Early Childhood Conferences. I worked alongside Emerging Minds, Beyond Blue, Head space and many community stakeholders from the upper mid North Coast region, covering over 176 Early Learning Centres, Family Day Care and Out of School Hours services. Prior to working for Early Childhood Australia, I have been a Teacher, Centre Director for 2 Aboriginal Preschools and Children’s Services Manager for a Children’s organisation.
Here at Goodstart Moonee Beach we strive to build positive relationships with our families, community and children and provide the best possible foundation for our children’s future.
Our Exceeding rating is testament to the dedication our Educators have in establishing wonderful relationships with children and families, and the programs such as ECERS and STEW assists with the educators to design and implement play based enriched learning environments, which provides opportunities for children to learn as they engage in play.
The team I am fortunate to work with, share my passion for allowing each child to meet their potential. They are dedicated, professional, experienced, and highly qualified. I am very proud of the dedication to quality that our team display and recognise that this commitment has established us as a leading provider of education and care at Moonee Beach
