The role of environments in high quality early learning: 5 quick questions with an exceeding centre
Q and A with Goodstart Burleigh Waters Centre Director Lee Green
Goodstart Claremont is located next to Windermere Primary School. The centre has been operating since 2006.
Our service caters for children from six weeks to five years of age. We have vegetable gardens and lots of plants that the children help us tend, as well as several pets that the children enjoy helping us care for.
Our team of enthusiastic educators are committed to providing the highest quality education and care for our children. We are a centre that firmly believes in the importance of continued professional development, and our educators are provided opportunities to further their knowledge and ensure they are up-to-date with industry best practice.
We encourage open communication with our families. Our centre holds regular family nights, and we email newsletters and notices to keep everyone up-to-date. We strongly encourage families to spend time in the centre, and some parents come in on their day off to volunteer their talents!
Our centre is deeply committed to the United Nations Rights of the Child. We advocate for our children's voices to be heard and listened to. We are equally committed to embedding sustainable practices within our centre, and believe that it is important for children to take care of their environment as well as each other.
Please feel welcome to stop by our centre and meet our friendly team!

I have worked in the Early Childhood Education sector for approximately 17 years and have proudly been part of the Goodstart family for an incredible 11 years. Throughout this time, I have built strong and lasting relationships with children, families, and educators, always bringing warmth, dedication, and a genuine passion for early learning.
I began my journey with Goodstart as a Group Leader at our North Hobart Centre before progressing into the Assistant Director role. From there, I became Centre Director at Blackmans Bay, where I spent five wonderful years, before moving into my current role at Claremont.
What inspires me most about my role is seeing the joy on children’s faces as they learn and grow. I feel privileged to work alongside families and educators to create a community where everyone feels supported, valued, and connected.
Outside of the centre, I enjoy shopping and spending quality time with my family, especially with my nephew, supporting his love of basketball and soccer and cheering him on in all his endeavours.
Why Choose Goodstart Claremont?

Our centre is built on strong community partnerships. We actively collaborate with local schools, services, and organisations to enrich children’s learning and strengthen their sense of belonging. Whether through community events, family workshops, or shared celebrations, we love bringing people together and creating meaningful connections that extend beyond our centre walls.
Our passionate educators are deeply committed to nurturing each child’s unique strengths, interests, and cultural identity. Through engaging, play-based learning experiences and warm, responsive relationships, we empower children to explore confidently, express themselves freely, and develop the skills they need to thrive now and into the future.
