Goodstart Early Learning Centre Haberfield is situated in a quiet, suburban street with leafy surroundings; a residential setting close to local schools and shops as well as transport routes. The centre is heritage listed with original features both inside and out. Each room has high ceilings and large windows allowing natural sunlight into each area.
At Goodstart Haberfield children are central to everything we do. We believe children have the right to access quality education and care through a supportive and engaging environment. Further, we are strong advocates of finding an equal balance to support children's inquisitive thinking through risky play and children's safety.
Language, literacy, STEM are embedded into our curriculum, through a play-based learning approach. Educators support children’s interests and development through scaffolding and Vygotsky’s Zone of proximal development. Children’s voices are used as a guide to support their individual needs and routines through transition and experiences that sustain shared thinking.
The majority of our staff have ben at the centre for over four years and come from various cultural backgrounds.
Having been in operation since 1963, our centre is well established in Haberfield and the surrounding suburbs with a lot of families returning with younger siblings and referring us to others.
Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Natural and stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through enquiry and play-based learning.
Our Storypark platform and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.
Outside, we have age-appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability.
At the back of our centre we have two large playgrounds equipped with sand pits, fixed equipment, herb gardens, space for movable activities and our very own Art Studio. Areas are well shaded with established trees and shade sails where required.
We have a qualified cook who cooks fresh, healthy and nutritious meals for the children each day. The centre provides all meals during the day, including breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack.
Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity through multiple mediums.
We encourage and welcome families input and participation in our daily program and seek feedback from all our families.  As such, community involvement and participation is embedded and strengthened through strong connections with local communities and networks. We have even adopted a Tiger called Terence!
We look forward to meeting you and your family soon! Come in and meet the team, take a tour and see how we can work together to give your child the best possible start in life.
