Early learning and care places are hard to find in Hobart West. It’s part of the reason why Goodstart Early Learning built an architecturally designed, purpose-built centre in the Hobart community providing high quality early learning and care from birth to 6 years.

Stimulating learning environments and unique indoor and outdoor play areas will enable children to break into their developmental stages to enhance interaction with each other, and facilitate dedicated care by qualified early childhood teachers and educators.

Children at the centre has access to engaging early childhood learning experiences and curriculum developed and delivered by experienced teachers. Programs will be designed to foster each child’s individual needs and interests.

Our vision

For children

Children will be provided with the highest level of early childhood learning experiences in engaging, challenging environments. Unique indoor and undercover outdoor areas will allow for gross motor play all year round, while external parks and a walking track will become an extension of the learning areas.

For families

The centre has a dedicated waiting area, a separate parent room and a training room where we will provide valuable information sessions for families. We welcome and support families to be a part of their child’s every day learning experiences. As our primary partner we want families to have a clear understanding of their child’s learning program and to interact with the centre so it forms part of everyday family life.

For educators

Educators will be driven by a strong image of child practices influenced by the UN Rights of the Child. The centre director will be well experienced in running a large centre, and educators will benefit from the quality of the facility and onsite training room.

For the community

The local community will be invested in the centre and we will provide space that external organisations can utilise. The location, being just a short walk to the city and near local parks, will open the centre up to the community and allow children to explore and learn about their surroundings.

Hello, my name is Deb and I am Centre Director at Hobart West.

I began my career in Early Education and Care 20 years ago, working as a Family Day Care educator with the Hobart City Council. I transitioned into long day in 2007 and joined Goodstart Early Learning as Director at Hobart Central in 2008. I hold a Diploma in Children’s Services, a Diploma in Business Management and Certificate 1V Workplace Training and Assessment.

I am committed to working with educators and families to provide an environment that is inclusive, respectful and accepting; where children develop a sense of belonging and connectedness.

I look forward to meeting you soon and welcoming you, your child and family to our community here at Goodstart Hobart West.

The above fees are effective from 7 July 2025 and are based on a 10 hour session, for attendance between 2 and 4 days per week. 5 day bookings receive a generous discount per day. Note that different combinations of sessions times and number of days can increase or decrease the daily rate.

Bachelor qualified Early Childhood Teachers (ECTs), a Preschool program, as well as other qualified educators to support children's learning and drive the centres curriculum, which is based on the Early Years Learning Framework.
Curriculum will be based on children’s interests and contemporary early childhood education.
An onsite cook, providing healthy, nutritious meals for your child, accommodating all dietary requirements, such as gluten and lactose intolerance.
Goodstart branded children’s hat will be given to your child on their first day at the centre.
