About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Bundoora (Bendoran Cresent) is a 60 place centre located in a residential area close to schools and shops as well as community facilities.

The space is split into four rooms, Nursery 1, Nursery 2, Toddlers and Kinder 3-5. Within these rooms are a mixture of Cert 3, Diploma, working towards Bachelor and Bachelor qualified educators and teachers. 

We strive to create inclusive environments that cater to the needs of the diverse families and children in our care, embedded in our practices are The Victorian Child Safe Standards, as we continue to empower the children to make decisions that affect them and explore their autonomy while in a safe space.

Our educators come from diverse walks of life, all bringing something new to their teaching styles. Each member of the team is empowered to share their strengths, passions and culture within their learning programs. Educators regularly engage in professional development enhancing their knowledge and keeping up to date with the fast-paced changes within the industry. 

We aim to deliver high quality care to our children and families, this is driven by our curriculum influenced by ‘The Early Years Learning Framework’, ‘Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework’, ‘Developmental Milestones’, Children’s Interest and Family Input. Within this curriculum, we have incorporated incursions, excursions, bush kinder and culturally diverse experiences and opportunities for families to share their cultures. Storypark is the platform used to develop our learning programs, this gives our families access to the working document in real time, where there is space for input and feedback. This means we can tailor each program to meet the individual and group needs of the child, highlighting their strengths, interests and needs. 

Our menu is seasonal and influenced by the diversity of the centre, the meals are made in celebration of flavours and cultures. Our centre cook is passionate about healthy eating and sharing her recipes for all the families to enjoy. Leftovers are boxed up and families are encouraged to take some home. 

Our Storypark platform allows us to regularly communicate with our families, sharing highlights of the day, learning stories and observations. This platform is specifically for the families who attend the service, privacy and confidentiality is a core value, with this we ensure stories are shared with the families of the children we are documenting. 

Our outdoor space is split into two yards. One yard occupied by the N1, N2 and Toddlers, while the second yard is occupied by Kinder 3-5. Within the outdoor space is a continuation of learning inspired by the curriculum. The yard has been split to ensure safety within the different age groups. Each yard has been set to meet the needs of the children occupying the space, ensuring that there is a balanced level of risky play, quiet spaces, and sensory play. Keeping the space as natural as possible, the children engage in the regular upkeep, from planting fruit, vegetables and herbs and spices or disposing of waste correctly and supporting educators in routine safety checks. Inspired by the EYLF 2.0, the children are active in their care for the environment.

Hayley Greeves

Centre Director

Hi there, my name is Hayley. I am the centre director at Goodstart Bundoora- Bendoran Cresent, located on Wurundjeri Land.

I have been with Goodstart Early Learning for 20 years, I have spent 18 of those years as centre director at various goodstart centres.  

I hold my Diploma in Ealy Childhood and am currently studying a Diploma in community services (as this is one of my passions). Through this study I strive to strengthen my community connections and create a space to be able to support families with seeking community support.  

I believe in leading my team through creating safe environments, open discussions and empowering my team to share their strengths, building learning relationships and working collaboratively.  

In relation to children, I strive to create environments where children are included in decision making, empowering the exploration of autonomy and inclusivity. Children are capable beings, and this is the vision I share with my team.  

Inclusivity and equality are two of my core values, we implement these values through creating environments that meet the needs and requirements of all families and children, from different walks of life.    

To ensure duty of care is upheld, I continue to empower my team to build trusting relationships with the families and engage in a collaborative partnership. Families are encouraged to share their views, ideas and input, while also being welcome at the centre to share their culture and heritage.  

Concepts such as ‘Key Educator Relationships’ are put in place to ensure relationships between families, educators and children are being nourished daily. As we aim to empower children to grow into capable adults, we engage in other ideas such as ‘Stive For Five’, this includes asking the children open ended questions and expanding on their input.  

My leaderships style is shaped by The Victorian Child Safe Standards, National Law and Regulations and the National Quality Standards. All curriculum is influenced by Children’s Developmental Milestones, Early Years Learning Framework, Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework, family input and child interest.
