About our centre

Welcome to Goodstart Early Learning Mentone.

At Goodstart Mentone, our centre is dedicated to providing a nurturing and educational environment for children from six weeks to school aged.

We offer long daycare and kindergarten programs and our play-based learning programs are designed to promote:  

A child’s natural sense of enquiry
Literacy, numeracy and social skills
Creativity, problem solving and resilience
These are all critical skills needed for school and life. Quality play-based learning gives children hands-on exploration of the world around them.

The team at Goodstart Mentone are passionate about how children learn and how we can connect and inspire their thinking and innate curiosity through our teams’ practices, enabling environments, experiences, conversations, and unpacking as a team how we can best support children’s individual and group needs, learning and development.
Our key educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators.
Our centre is architecturally designed to offer children a beautiful inviting space both internally and externally. Featuring six age-based learning spaces over two levels, with direct access for all children to a 0-2 and 3-6 year old expansive outdoor play areas.
Our beautiful communal dining hub allows the children to come together and enjoy meals away from their learning spaces. Our onsite kitchen with child-height servery allows our centre cook to serve and interact with our children and engage in cooking and preparing meals.
Yes we offer a state approved funded kindergarten program.

Hello, I’m Renee, the Centre Director here at our wonderful learning community at Goodstart Mentone.

Welcome to Goodstart Mentone!

My name is Renee Brown, and I have the honour of leading our playful and welcoming community here in Mentone, on the land of the Boonwurrung/Bunurong people. With 19 years of experience in early childhood education and care, I'm deeply passionate about creating an environment where every child can thrive and discover their unique potential.

My background

I began my journey in early childhood education as an educator and then an educational leader which ignited my passion for early learning. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to collaborate with a variety of centres and support the development of pedagogy and practice.

My early childhood philosophy

I believe in understanding and getting to know children on a deeper level. For me, it's all about children feeling as though they are part of a community, feeling that the centre is a second home and having the chance to thrive and be happy.

What I love most about Goodstart Mentone

Goodstart Mentone is special because our children have 2 levels at the centre which enable them to have access to their own yards with children in the same age range. Every day, I'm inspired by the smiles, laughter, and learning that happen within our walls.
