At Goodstart our Vision is for Australia’s children to have the best possible start in life. As Australia’s largest early learning provider and a not–for–profit social enterprise, we exist purely to improve the lives of Australia’s children and their families. Every day, more than 13,500 Goodstart staff support almost 60,000 families and the 70,500 children that attend our 649 centres nation-wide.
Equipped for life
Our Purpose is to ensure children have the learning, development and wellbeing outcomes they need for school and life.
Goodstart aims to equip children to become successful life-long learners, develop the skills they need for a smooth start to formal schooling and provide them with the ability to navigate an ever-changing world.
Our programs are delivered in a supportive and nurturing environment that seeks to welcome every child, regardless of their background or the challenges they face.
Children are central
Three core principles drive our work and guide every aspect of our operation:
1. Children are central to everything we do
2. Families are our primary partner
3. Being a valued member of the community
Goodstart has a passionate network of dedicated, professional educators who deliver the best available care and teaching outcomes based our constant striving for evidence–based best practice in early learning.
The organisation has six strategic goals:
1. High Quality
: Ensure all of our centres deliver high quality early learning and care in a safe environment.
: Enhance outcomes for children in vulnerable circumstances.
3. Financial Sustainability
: Generate a surplus to reinvest in our network, our people and our purpose.
4. Great People
: Build a capable, aligned and engaged workforce.
: Embed evidence-informed practice and strengthen the Australian evidence base.
: Increase public commitment to quality early learning and care.
Access for all children
Goodstart believes all of Australia’s children should have access to affordable, quality early learning and care.
Our ongoing investment in enhanced programs and service models aims to ensure that children facing disadvantage and developmental vulnerability have opportunities to maximise their learning, development and wellbeing so they start school on an equal footing with their more advantaged peers.
We are helping families across Australia to understand and embrace the importance of early learning. And as this progresses, we're simultaneously working to unite early learning professionals and policy makers on a national pathway to positive change.
