About our centre

Goodstart Early Learning Centre Wodonga is situated in the grounds of St Monica's Primary School, offering families the opportunity to drop their children off to School and our Early Childhood Education and Care Service at the one time. Our centre provides meals, nappies, wipes, and sunscreen and focuses on promoting children’s health and safety.

Our Early Learning Centre is licensed for 94 children per day, catering for children aged 6 weeks to school age. Our service environment supports children learning in flexible spaces that are responsive to individual children’s interests and abilities, and designed for flexible use and interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces.

We have five internal rooms Nursery (0 - 15 mths), Toddlers (15mths – 2.5yrs), Junior Kindy (2.5yrs – 3.5yrs), Kindy (3.5yrs - 4.5yrs) and Kindergarten (4.5 - 6yrs). Our learning spaces provide children a place to ‘be’ and give them the opportunity to explore their environment in a well-resourced, safe and natural environment. Additional to our room learning spaces, our foyer offers a warm and welcoming space that is set up into small learning areas, catering for child-staff to engage in one on one interaction, sibling interaction and small group development and learning.

Our outdoor play spaces are a balance of natural and manmade elements and play surfaces – with sandpits, mud digging pit, trees, decking, vegie patches, cubby house, a Balinese hut and lots of shade. We have carefully designed and planned spaces to encourage a stronger understanding of the environment and sustainability, while giving children the scope to explore, play and let their imaginations roam.

Our service curriculum is informed by the approved learning framework that enhances each child’s learning and giving them the opportunity to participate and develop interests and construct their own identities and understanding of the world in a supported quality education and care facility. Working in partnerships with families, we recognise families as children’s first teachers and work together to scaffold each child’s learning. Supporting the connection between home and the early childhood education and care service our online ‘Storypark’ community is a private community, and once joined, your child’s account is ‘owned’ by you - not Goodstart. You can then invite others to join your child’s community, and our centre teams will provide you updates on your child’s learning. The platform is interactive, so you can comment on the updates, which might be photos, discussions, or videos, and you can even post your own stories so our educators can see what your child enjoys doing at home.

We utilise ‘Storypark’ to communicate with families via community posts on upcoming centre events, service illnesses, community events, and other important information. We support families through the initial enrolment process - centre tours and orientation visits, before commencing at our service. We are respectful of children and families' rights and foster a relationship that is supported and fundamental to achieving quality outcomes for children and community partnerships that are based on active communication, consultation and collaboration.

We look forward to welcoming your family to our learning community family.

Melissa Sitch

Centre Director

Hi, I’m Melissa Sitch and I’m the Centre Director here at Goodstart Wodonga.

I have been the Centre Director at Goodstart Wodonga since March 2024.

I hold a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. I take great joy and satisfaction in overseeing the educational programs and care at Goodstart Wodonga.

I have been in the Early Childhood industry for the equivalent of 15 years, having a break between 2017 and 2023. I have worked in a range of services both private and non for profit, in Melbourne and now Wodonga, working with children from birth to 6 years.

My Early Learning values:

I strongly believe that the early years are the most important time for a child to learn and helps to establish their attitude for learning for their whole life.

What I love about our community:

The people! From a quick morning hello to the amazing support given when we do a local fundraising drive it is the people who build our community.

A little more about me:

When I’m not in the centre, you’ll find me spending time with my family, coaching my children’s basketball teams, reading and watching movies.

Why your child should spend the day with me (and the amazing team at Goodstart Wodonga):

At Goodstart Wodonga we strive to provide a safe, peaceful, and nurturing environment that engages children's learning by provoking wonder, curiosity, and intellectual engagement.

I look forward to welcoming you and your family.
